Other Acupuncture Techniques
Other techniques I use are:
- Moxibusion - a wonderful and powerful technique that uses a herb to warm acupuncture points. Moxibustion is wonderfully warming and nourishing. It is extremely popular in my clinic.
- Guasha - a technique that uses an implement to scrape the skin and release muscle tension
- Cupping - an invigorating and wonderfully moving technique which is excellent for tired and achy muscles. Cupping has received a great deal of publicity through celebrities as it not only feels amazing, but is very visual too. - Auricular acupuncture - there are over 200 acupuncture points on the ear. These points can be used to treat any system in the body and are commonly used for many treatment protocols such as weight loss and quitting smoking. In my clinic I often combine auricular acupuncture with traditional acupuncture.
The British Acupuncture Council produces a range of fact sheets on a range of conditions, giving a summary of all the research and benefits of acupuncture.
